As Zephyrs blowing below the violet by SinistrosePhosphate As Zephyrs blowing below the violet by SinistrosePhosphate
So... I've learned something: As much as I love spring (and all seasons in general), I can't do this whole "spring" thing justice. And believe you me, I tried. Harder than usual, too. I guess you'll let me know how I did, wouldn't you?

Post scripts and etc.:
1. Contest entry for :iconizka-197: and her "Spring Time" contest. More details here: izka-197.deviantart.com/journa…
2. Flower petals brush from tutbrush.com/flowers__rose-pet…
3. Title credit: William Shakespeare, Cymbeline (IV, ii)
4. Background texture: fav.me/d6253f8
5. I claim the fantastic (and incomparable) art works of THORES Shibamoto as a prime source of inspiration here. The character here is a Trinity Blood OC by the name of Father Jeremy Bentham, AX Codename Vesalius. He is the same character from an earlier contest piece sinistrosephosphate.deviantart… I've been working on a long, novel-length fanfiction based on him as the main character since last year. However, since NaNoWriMo had come and gone... I've only got as far as the first part done (about 20,000 words or so). I am going to try it again this year.

Wish me luck!

Ohhh... <3

It's very nice, my dear. I love his pose that's for certain. I've also taken notice over the passed few months that your digital coloring skills have gradually improved over time as well as your line work having cleaned up quiet a bit -- good job.

It's fantastic to see Jeremy again it really is... I should be more attentive with the countess...  my mind has been firing off in the worst ways as of late, but this is certainly inspirational...

I like to think that I am a challenge-propelled individual: I do better when there's added pressure either by competition or deadline (or both.) My "list of things to do" has dwindled down to almost nil lately, so I decided to pick up some competitions. I know my chance of winning would be pretty low, but it would still be nice to be able to pit my paltry abilities with the rest of the community... so... there we go... ^^;

Besides, it's always nice to see Father Bentham out of the lab and out in the sun. I am still planning on finishing that story, you know.
It'll just take... time. A lot of time, but yes, time. ^^;

This is BEAUTIFUL.The colors are vibrant, the shading is deep, even the rays of sun are done so very well. The angles of the person capture the eyes and makes them follow the line of the body, giving it depth. I'm trying to read the expression of the body instead of just the face which makes me connect with the character more. Plus I am in love with those reds and yellow but I do get a more autumn-ish feeling from the picture. Overall, beautiful bravo, bravo. Clap clap applause
Lol

First of all, thank you very much for your detailed - and very kind - comment.
It's the type of conversational piece that a doodler like me is looking for, I think.

You're the second person to tell me the colours look more autumn than spring, actually. And I couldn't agree with you more. (I -did- say that "I realised I can't do Spring justice, right? ^^;) But I am really glad that you took notice of the composition and the movement in the picture over the details such as the facial expressions. There really wasn't much in ways of expression on this guy's face, but his gestures spoke more. I have a bad habit of wearing a coat but leaving it unbuttoned so that it would flap in the wind. There's something exhilarating about that feeling as if you are almost able to fly. That was the kind of feeling I wanted to bring to this piece, because in spring even the snow birds will wake up and spread their wings to fly. And I am really glad to hear that this was what had captured your attention.

Once again, thank you!

Well you are my cupcake so I will be here to critique or whatever else you might need me for~
And yes, the flapping coat makes a great impact on the picture. It's not just standing still, you see what the wind touches and makes the leaves rustle in your head. Makes one remember a strong wind and the sweet smells of spring.
For me, the smell of spring is an oak tree like the one on my front yard. She smells great^^

I would love to have someone who would critique me, actually. I think that's the only way I'll learn. And while we're on that note... don't spare the rod. There's a role for both nice words and bad words whenever they are called for. And thank you very much in advance!

Unfortunately for me... spring usually means the onset of awful allergies. You might say I am living spring vicariously through this character here: I'd love to do what he's doing out in a meadow! And hey, he looks better than me while doing it. I can't deny that... ^^;

... Much appreciated!
... That's how we learn at the end of the day, after all. And if there's one thing I do know, I still have a -lot- of learning to do.

Thank you, thank you! You're too kind, really.
I guess that's why I like contests - I'm pushed to do good so I can go head-to-head with other talented artists. You might say I need a reason to get off my big butt! ^^;

Naw, I'm just the right amount of kind, my friend. And you deserve plenty of praise! :)
And there's nothing like challenging yourself to push yourself to be the yes best you can be.
I'm all for challenging ones self, be it through artistry, writing or whatever creative endeavor you set your mind to. :D

The way I think of it...?
I'm a man of occasions. Without the occasion I probably wouldn't lift a finger towards too much in life. But therein lies the rub, would I be good enough to be a man for all occasions one day?

... never know until I try.
... and it never hurts to try.
... and it's always nice to know that someone's out there watching you while you try.

And I'll certainly be watching while you try, my talented friend. :aww:

... Call me my own worst critic, but I think this is far from perfection, yet.
... If nothing else, I'm putting this one head to head with other talented artists in a competition. Since art lies in the eyes of the beholder, I think I'm going to leave it to the audience to tell me where I really stand.

In the meantime... and I know I've said this before, but I appreciate your very kind words. And I appreciate your gesture of support by adding it to your list of favourites. Thanks for keeping me going.

i'm glad i could keep your spirits up, friend, I do greatly admire your colouring in all of your drawings, this one in particular has a tricky pose, and i must say your anatomy in this is impeccable.

It's my honour to have someone who keeps me up and going, I think.

And it's funny how you mentioned colouring. I personally still consider colouring my worst features - in my mind, I could do so much better. But it's not always easy, I think it has something to do with my tendency to want to break things down to its bare, black-and-white parts. I used to tell people I dream in black and white! As far as the anatomy goes... references, references, references. I don't use them nearly enough... ^^;

Still a long way to go before I become good, I think. Some folks out there have a lot of talent and a lot of time to practice their talents. I'm not one of them; not by a long shot. So I get by with whatever I can find. And wonderful folks like you keep me hacking away at it. So... thanks a million.

And that you are, my friend. Very useful. grinfaceplz
Joking, of course.

But I do firmly believe that if it wasn't for the folks here who actually take the time to notice me out of a million other artists and doodlers out there, I probably would be resigned to filling my living quarters with useless doodles that would have been destroyed eventually. At least, that was the way a lot of my doodles have gone before I started an account here. It goes to show you, this community is literally what has kept me going and going strong over these years. And you will find me most grateful to you. All of you.

You could thicken the leaves since leaves are of course opaque,
and add a bit of dust flying with the leaves, adds motion to them,
and maybe add some weak wind lines to give it direction...
That's all I can think of for now...
Tis good...

These are very nice and potentially quite useful tips. I like them!
And these are things that I would definitely try to incorporate in the future. After all, t's a process of learning, isn't it?

Once again, thank you!
