Boy... it's been cold here. More than the chilly weather, we've been inundated by heavy snowfall. Ever since the beginning of 2013, we have survived through two blizzards and a couple of snow squalls. And this is not counting the normal flurries that we get in between. All told, we already have had more than 100 cm (3') of snowfall on the Avalon Peninsula already... and it's not even February yet.
In honour of the weather, I present to you the Eishexe of the Rosenkreutz Orden, Helga von Vogelweide, and her "Winter Maiden" staff. With this technology, Countess von Vogelweide was said to be able to control cold and ice. It's fitting, really.
Artist's Note: Picture Credit: The picture came from "Trinity Blood: Rage Against the Moon" series. Written by the late Sunao Yoshida and illustrated by THORES Shibamoto. Published by The Sneaker Magazine and later by Kadogawa Shoten, June 29, 2002.
Technical Details: Equipment: Cutting board, Artisan cutting blade (#11) Paper: Origami Paper, Turquoise (ORI12636), The Japanese Paper Place - 60gsm Took: approximately 6 hours Size: See ruler
Technical Note: This is the first time I actually worked with real origami paper. It's a lot thinner than the Canson Mi-teintes I've been used to, so it's taken me quite a bit of time to adjust. The origami paper is thinner and more brittle - and due to the low rag count, less forgiving. More to report when I give it another shot!
I think that she turned out very well. I thought our weather was cold here but what you're going through is way too much for me. *shakes head* No thank you.
I like all the tiny little details that have gone into this. The colour is fitting for her. It reminds me of the colour of snow in the shade. Thanks for sharing it.
Once again, thank you very much for your comment! For a trial of new paper, I think she turned out pretty well, too. Of course, there's always room for improvement, but hey... I gotta start somewhere, right?
The weather... you know, we weren't always like this - cold and snowing all the time. The newspapers are saying this is the coldest we've been since the 50's. What does that say about global warming, I will never know. All I know is I am looking forward to spring already!
You're welcome. For the first run of new paper, I think this turned out very well indeed. It will let you see your improvement more perhaps?
I would believe it being the strangest weather in a while. I have tulips that are starting to come up.o_O It was freezing two weeks ago and completely foggy until a half a week ago. I don't understand the weather pattern. If it's going to be spring, then let it happen and be done with it.
Oh, I certainly hope so. I can't expect things to go smoothly the first time around, after all. It just means there'll always be room for improvement - and that's never a bad thing
... isn't this a little too early for tulips? ... I don't understand the weather pattern, myself. I was told we're going to have a thawing period this weekend with uncertain weather next week. The last thing I want to see is things get half-thawed out and re-freeze again. That would really be the pits. Just like you said, if spring is going to happen... they let's get on with it already!
I think it will allow for the display of improvement. Not really a bad thing to be able to see one's own growth. Especially if it's a while down the road.
Yes, yes it is. By about a month and a half, roughly. I shouldn't be seeing them until the middle of March. I don't understand it but I am choosing to go with the cycle that I am being shown this year instead of fretting over "what should be". I am only a human, not a god(dess) or any other sort of being with any sort of control over the weather. That does sound like a mess if that is what will happen. My wishes for you that it does not.
That's exactly it. And hopefully I'll be able to show you how far I've came along, too! (eventually, that is. )
It's true enough - our experience with the weather is but a short and small sample of what the world is capable of when it comes to what comes "natural" to it. So the more we fret and worry over it, the more useless anxiety we create for ourselves. what if the tulips show up early this year? As long as they are not frozen it means we get to enjoy them earlier, too. And that's never a bad thing. (And so far so good... we've been having period where we thawed out pretty completely before more snow fell. So we're not frozen in sheets of ice. Thank goodness~! )
But thank you very much for your very kind comment!
