Very few people know I paint (mostly because I don't have the space to set up an easel anywhere) but when it comes to painting, the only thing I like (and perhaps the only thing I am good for) is landscape. As such, landscape paintings have a special place in my heart. We see the world around us and it's only natural to want to record it down for others to see - whether out of the sheer sense of awe of the world that we live in or because of practical reasons such as navigation without getting lost, we have come a long way when it comes to landscape paintings. Are you one of those folks who love to work with their hands? Someone who likes creating 3D figures and models? Someone who likes paper? Or are you someone who is a little bit of "all of the above"? (Then again, you can be like me and have a very bad habit of looking at things that you can't quite afford but love to have around...) If any of the above sounds like you, then I have good news for you. We're going to find a way to make our own paper versions of... well, a lot of things, really. Whatever you set your sights on, chances are there is a way to reproduce them in paper. That's what we are up to today.

I remember seeing the highly decorative items that used to permeate Harajuku street fashion back in the early-2000's. It was a thriving scene with styles pushing boundaries of the otherwise straight-laced Japanese society norms. One of the many varied styles and subcultures that developed from that thriving scene was something called Decoden. Sugar-sweet with a kick, Decoden survived through the years because of its ability to be adorable and subversive at the same time. Today it’s still a crafting niche in many parts of the world. And it has its own little space here on DA, too.
